Privacy Policy
The short version: what you type into Grade Index stays on your device. We don't have accounts, we don't collect your grades, and we don't sell anything about you.
1. What we don't collect
Grade Index has no sign-up and no accounts. We don't ask for your name, email, school, or student ID, and we don't collect the grades, class names, syllabi, or due dates you enter.
2. What stays on your device
To remember your classes between visits, Grade Index saves what you enter in your browser's local storage. That data lives only on your device. It isn't sent to us, and we can't see it. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for Grade Index. Using a private or incognito window means nothing is kept after you close it.
3. Syllabus uploads
When you upload a syllabus, the file is read inside your browser to find categories and due dates. The file isn't uploaded to our servers or stored by us. Only the text it finds is saved on your device, the same way as anything you type.
4. Third-party services
- Code libraries. To read PDF and Word files, your browser downloads open-source tools from cdnjs, a public content network run by Cloudflare. Like any website, cdnjs may receive basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type. It does not receive your files or grades.
- Hosting. The company that hosts this site may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, to run and protect the service.
- Google Calendar links. If you click "Add to Google," you're taken to Google Calendar with that event's name and date filled in. What happens there is covered by Google's privacy policy, not this one.
5. Visitor stats and ads
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across sites, and doesn't identify individual visitors. It never sees the grades or files you enter.
Grade Index doesn't currently show ads or use tracking cookies. If we add ads in the future, for example Google AdSense, we'll update this policy first and explain what's collected and how to opt out.
6. Selling or sharing data
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. Because we don't collect your grades or files in the first place, we have none to sell.
7. Children
Grade Index is made for college students and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Big changes, like adding ads or analytics, will be noted here before they happen.
